Thanks to today’s advanced mobile devices, video content is everywhere and being consumed in more ways than ever including high resolution 4K video capture/streaming and playback, interactive videos, XR environments (including virtual reality and augmented reality), cloud gaming and facial recognition to name a few.
Traditionally, hardware constraints meant that gamers had to be tethered to their PC or game console to experience premium gaming content, while mobile devices had only enough power for simplistic and often quirky entertainment apps and games. That’s all changed.
At the 2018 Game Developer Conference (GDC), we are showcasing how our Snapdragon® mobile platforms are bringing premium console and PC-quality game experiences to mobile. Thanks to our innovation in mobile gaming and graphics, players now have the freedom to game virtually anywhere, anytime.
For this year’s International Women’s Day, we’re continuing to tell the story of women in technology. We’re proud to participate in the Women in Hardware series presented by Adafruit and Hackster.io, focusing on women that are inventing, innovating, and changing hardware for the better.
Qualcomm® Developer Network March Developer of the Month is our VR Developer Challenge winner E McNeill from San Diego, California. His strategy game Astraeus, named after the Greek god of dust and twilight, requires the user to gather resources from a 3D network of bases. The game relies heavily on Six Degrees of Freedom (6DoF) so that the user can fully understand the relationship of resources, bases, and ships.
