The Qualcomm Robotics RB5 AMR reference design is ideal for developers to accelerate development for AMRs that can autonomously map commercial, industrial and manufacturing spaces. It performs all mapping from image sensors, eliminating the need for expensive LiDar sensors.
The reference design is based on the Qualcomm® Robotics RB5 Platform. Its low-cost sensors are easier to program than LiDar sensors and they offer a wider field of view with precise object information (color and size) for computer vision. It is suited to high-compute, low-cost terrestrial robots in applications like manufacturing, mapping, logistics, delivery, health care and retail, and it ships configured for industrial warehouse settings.
The Qualcomm Robotics RB5 AMR reference design integrates AI and 5G for intelligent robotics at the network edge. Engineered for low power consumption, long range connectivity, high performance and low latency communication, it combines features like these:
- Qualcomm® QRB5165 processor
- 5G/LTE (with optional mezzanine board)
- Qualcomm® AI Engine delivering up to 15 trillion operations per second (TOPS) for deep-learning workloads and autonomous operation
- Qualcomm® Hexagon™ Tensor Accelerator (HTA) with up to 8 TOPS for machine learning inferencing at the edge
- Qualcomm Spectra™ 480 CV image signal processor (ISP) for 8K video recording and 4K high dynamic range (HDR) video capture with 7-camera concurrency
Your software environment on the reference design consists of Ubuntu 18.04, Linux (based on Yocto Dunfell, Kernel 4.19), ROS 2 and PX4. Supported SDKs include the Qualcomm® Neural Processing SDK for optimizing deep learning workloads, the Qualcomm® Computer Vision SDK for gesture recognition and face detection, and the Hexagon DSP SDK for compelling multimedia.
