From snpe-caffe-to-dlc, the only input supported format is argb32,rgba,nv21,bgr.
We have a deep learning network trained by caffe which takes grayscale input (1dim input source).
How can I convert to the model using snpe-caffe-to-dlc. Is this unsupported. Only color rgb iamge supported ?

Have you looked through the sample Android application? There is a function in there called writeGrayScaleBitmapAsFloat(). You might want to look through that to get some hints.
