Hi
I am doing some test with QCLI demo. I am not able to see any 5GHz access point with scan command.
On the other hand I can see and connect to all 2.4GHz networks
Should I enable something with a command o at compile-time?
Thanks

The default QCLI_demo should work for 5GHz access points as well:
> wlan enable
> wlan setdevice 1
> wlan scan 2
Example:
The scan results should display both 2.4GHz and 5GHz access points as well.
KIndly share us your scan results, were you able to connect to the accesspoint in 5GHz by specifying the SSID ?
Hi Thanks for your fast reply
I tested two different modules, one in the QCA4020 DEv Kit from Qualcomm and one from Silex (https://www.silextechnology.com/connectivity-solutions/embedded-wireless/sx-ulpgn-btz)
Using the very same QCLI_demo I noticed that compared to Qualcomm module the Silex module is much less sensitive for 5GHz (RSSI 20-30 dB lower) leading to unstable connection. If the AP is not near enough the network is not visible at all
No differences have been detected for 2.4GHz networks instead
I suppose that in Silex module I have to set come specific parameter to activate 5GHz section properly
Has anyone discovered any more info about the 5Ghz performance on the Silex module?
The Silex module has a dedicated wlan_fw_img.bin file that should be used. We are using it and I do not see major differences compared to other modules for 5Ghz
Thank you andreas. Are you saying that there is a unique wlan_fw_img.bin for Silex, otehr than what is provided in the Qualcomm SDK?
Yes, there is a modified version of that file created by Silex. I guess they modified some parameters to optimize for their RF circuitry.
Silex should provide that to you usually. It is also mentioned in their
APPLICATION NOTE: SX-ULPGN-BTZ Development Quick Start Guide,
Hi, yes as mentioned above Silex has a customized wlan bin file and nvm file for theri platform. The application note describes how to use it with the QC SDK.
