SP140/141 No LED, shell

Hi there,

I'm trying to connect to my SP140/141 development board (with the red Alljoyn sub-board), using USB to the J9 connector on the bottom.

For my other board, an SP140/144 (green sub-board), I simply needed to install the FTDI drivers, choose the Serial radio button in PuTTY, and I could get an interactive shell. There was an orange status LED that turned on immediately when I plugged it in.

The SP140/141 creates two COM ports, but connecting using PuTTY generates no response at all. Unlike the SP140/144, there are no jumpers installed by default. Putting my own jumpers into the places shown in the Quick Start Guide didn't help though.

We ordered a replacement, but that has the same problem.

  • • Is there supposed to be a power indication LED on the SP140/141 board?
  •
  • • What are the required jumper settings, DIP switch swittings, and drivers for communicating to the SP140/141? I'd like to get shell access, as I have succeeded in doing with the SP140/144.
  •

Thank you for your assistance!

Best regards,

Peter

Please folow the DIP switch setting as described in Document 80-Y6806-4 Rev A in Section 1.1

Done that. And I even tried installing my own personal jumpers according to document 80-Y6806-2 Rev. B, Figure 1.

The LED on the board does not light up. PuTTY opens a new window with a blinking green cursor, but cannot get a shell prompt.

What else do you suggest trying?

Hi Peter,

it seams you probably have a wrong FW image (on the QCA4002 SPI flash)  or driver on the MCU . Can you try re-programming using flash agent tool ?

BR,

Unfortunately I don't have a J-Link programming cable. Can you suggest another way to reflash the firmware?

There is another way to refresh the FW but you need to have an NDA with Qualcomm.

Terms:

---------

FW = programm running on the internal microprocessor of the QCA4002 stored on the external flash connected to the QCA4002 through SPI interface

Driver = programm running on the Freescale K22 microprocessor stored in the internal flash of the K22

I've asked my boss for permission, and he's told me that I can sign an NDA with Qualcomm as needed.

Please let me know how to proceed!
