I have an avatar so you noticed my post ALSO BECAUSE CAPSLOCK and other ridiculous stuff.

Hi, it would be nice if you'd release the drivers source, I have an HTC Desire and it's a throwback that we don't have ICS. We know why but we also know it's all fix-able. Oh yes and it would be nice if you developed a SoC that's faster then a Core i7 and a Bulldozer together while consuming less energy then a rock. But hey, you could always go back to releasing the drivers source code and whatever else is needed for an ICS port.

I found it worth the time to register and post here to help encourage this company to open source the drivers for this chipset!  Be a good community oriented company!!

If you guys do this, I can guarantee my next phone will have Qualcomm hardware!!! :)

I'd like to add my voice to this request; please consider releasing these drivers to the community. Like others have said before, doing so would be a great gesture that says Qualcomm listens to its customers and wants to help out.

As a mobile devices enthusiast, I am here to ask Qualcomm to be a real community oriented company.

You are well aware of hardware accelerated UI in the Android 4.0 ICS, that relies heavily on GPU of device. Google, with its AOSP has decided not support Nexus One and related devices. As a user community, we have long stopped relying on HTC and Google to support the devices - this is now a community effort, that brings joy to millions, and is a true development pass time for many.

Since the ICS source outing, many community projects have been started to bring the new platform to older devices, but all of them (for devices based on this and similiar platforms) are missing the proprietary user space drivers, needed for the Hardware Acceleration to work.

I believe it would be a great move for a company like Qualcomm to support advanced users and entusiast in their efforts to port the ICS to Adreno 200 based devices.

I sincerely hope you will at least consider this request and decide to support the community  - the same community that with their enthusiasm helped to make the smartphone market what it is today.

Take into account that we do not ask for much, it just a set of compiled binaries that you surelly have already, or are easy for you to make. We do not expect you to support the release, or do bugfixes. It would be even better if you could supply the source code - but lets not push it too far :)

Best Regards

Hello,

It would be great if Qualcomm would support the porting of ICS to Adreno 200 based devices! Don't let our devices to die!

I've owned several Qualcomm derived devices and even though I have always been more than happy with the base functionality...I'm a tinkerer, I love to see how far "legacy" devices can go. Drivers for the Adreno family (200, 205) would be a great help to the developer community, and a large subset of your client base.

Thanks in advance Qualcomm

As someone who has bought a device with your hardware, I would like to second the bid from the community.

Please consider this move to extend the lifetime of some of your devices - every device kept in use is a device not thrown away. Every device not thrown away means a new customer for you - one which wasn't able to buy it in the first place, but a second hand customer. Don't underestimate them - they get first hand customers soon.

The community will spread the word about your move, if you'll make it, so the multiplying effect might be your direct profit.

Best regards,

Patric

Hello, while we all are taking great efforts to convince Qualcomm to release the source, is there a status or an update as to where we stand? While an official response to a request like this won't be found in the community forums. Can someone working closely with Qualcomm give us deeper insight to what the scene is?

Being a developer, I hope that Qualcomm can provide the libraries to allow our little devices to take advantage of the hardware acceleration and allow our aging devices to be able to sit alongside our other newer gadgets without having to look like a device from the past. Such libraries should be readily available as you have been the company that have spent so much effort in designing, and I do believe, wouldn't want that effort to go to waste either. As of such, I urge you to provide us the libraries to bring our devices to further heights, and also to show us that you care for your consumers, not just view us as your money-churning toys.

Dear Qualcomm, iam speaking to the developing child in all of us.

Lets use capacities of decaded devices, like the HTC Desire, to prove hardware can be future-proof. There is enough power in gpu/cpu combination in this devices, so tell us how to talk to it!

Iam sure the step to release some locked code is hard an will open coffins to actual code you are using, but be aware that this will be some very good PR for the company either.

I dont see the point in repeating what everyone has already said. Open source is the way ahead if they made this open source then it would get built alot quicker and alot better. Or at least just released the source code like HTC do so the community can make the software even better for geeks and phone enthusiasts to put on their handsets. I dont usually join websites just to put one post in but I took exception this time as this matter is so important. Please listen Qualcomm and release the open source drivers for the Adreno 200 series boards.

You will sell alot more phones in the long run!

Bring on Ice Cream Sandwich to the Desire with full HWA.

Thankyou

Also +1 on this request. Kindly investigate in what ways Qualcomm could be of assistance to the community.

Although I am not a developer, I am owner of the HTC Desire waiting for these talented people at XDA to get us all into the ICS world. Hence, please release the compiled binaries or better the source code... favour with the XDA will only benifit you in the long run... I bought the HTC Desire mainly because of the strong support for it at XDA....

Cheers!

Your help will forever be appreciated.

Thanks,

As owner of soon 2 year-old Desire I sign this petition. We are yet to witness the full potential of Adreno 200 GPU. Please release the drivers.

Anything to say to the community at this point? News? Progress?

As a HTC Desire user and developer I'd like to give my vote for this petition. Releasing drivers or better opening the sources would give longer life for the devices based you your graphics chips and would support the community of users and developers. And those in turn would support qualcomm hardware making it really popular in alternative firmware solutions.

hi dear fellow qdev team & qualcomm team

we are here to request you to do something about the driver for IceCreamSandwich.

if u can even release driver for "As Is" basis or the source, will be a big help for the users of ur manufactured hardware.

even a tool or just a few line of the code will do the tweak that will make our phone powered by adreno hardware will be a great help.

please be generous to reply at least.

thank you.

Hi Developer Team,

Hi Product Management,

please join the efforts of other hardware manufacturers, who already showed successfully that it is possible to make profit AND support the OSS community.

Please release the driver for Android 4.0, so that many phones based on Adreno, can be supported.

Thank you!

Please support our devices running on Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD 8250!
All we need is the compiled libs or even better, the source codes.
Thanks a million if it happens.
