For random address setting in the controller by the host in LE, is it mandatory to set the address type also by some means? if address type is not set by the host, can controller set the new address type itself for sending packets over the air?

There are three random address types (Bluetooth 4.2 Core Spec, Vol 3, Part C, Section 10.8):

* Static - as the name implies, this is a fixed address chosen by the peripheral at boot and shouldn't normally change

* Resolvable Private - this is a changing address chosen by the peripheral that is validated by bonded hosts via the IRK

* Non-Resolvable Private - this is set by the host

So if the host sets the address it *must* be non-resolvable private.
