Android Studio vs. Eclipse for Hexagon Development

I've been following the Hexagon 3.0 dependencies instructions which detail using Eclipse as a development environment. In looking for the Android ADT plugin though I'm reminded that support for Eclipse ADT pluggin is no longer supported in favor of Android Studio as the supported environment.

Has anyone here developed for Hexagon using Android Studio? Do the examples run under AS? Is there a procedure for installing AS for Hexagon. Or is everyone still using legacy Eclipse? Is there any guidance or documentation on this issue?
