What’s New in Trepn Profiler v6.2?

  • Added a new power estimation feature that uses an algorithm to estimate power usage if direct power readings aren’t supported by a mobile device. This new feature is experimental, so please share any issues you encounter.
  • Added a "Battery Power Data Source" setting, with an "Auto-Select" option to dynamically select the best source of Battery Power data. In cases where invalid power readings are detected, or a device is connected to a power source, the app uses estimated power. Note: When estimated power is used, an asterisk will appear after the battery power label.
  • Added support for profiling Battery Power on the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X
  • Added support for profiling processor temperature on some Snapdragon 808 devices
  • Added dynamic detection of the processor temperature thermal zone for supported Snapdragon 810 devices
  • Addressed several crashes reported by users
  • Fixed an "Invalid Duration" error where Trepn would get into a bad state on Android M devices if it is swiped from Recent Apps
  • Modified the Advanced Mode Stats Network Usage screen so that sessions from other devices can be loaded properly
  • Removed several unnecessary permissions
  • Fixed the y-axis of "Wi-Fi RSSI" graphs to show the proper values and scale
  • Modified the "GPS State" and "Screen State" graphs and overlays to display the name of the current state on the y-axis (opposed to just a number)
  • Fixed several errors in exported CSV files
  • Fixed the ordering of data points in the "Statistics Summary" and "Application State Statistics" sections of the CSV file

Known Issues

  • Not all devices are capable of reporting accurate battery power and thermal data. Refer to the list of supported devices in the Trepn forum at developer.qualcomm.com for more details.
  • Devices with Snapdragon 808 (8992), Snapdragon 810 (8994) and Snapdragon 820 (8996) processors only provide power updates every 30-seconds. For reliable average power readings, it is recommended that you profile 3 minutes or longer
  • On Android M, disabling any of Trepn Profiler’s permissions in Android Settings may lead to application crashes
  • Not all data points are available on all devices. Some data points are only available on devices with Snapdragon processors (e.g. GPU Frequency, GPU Load, etc.) Refer to the FAQ for more info.
  • When Estimated Power is used in Trepn, the "Show Current (mA)" setting is ignored and Power (mW) is used. Values are properly labeled as mW.

What’s New in Trepn Profiler v6.1.1?

  • Resolved an issue on Android 5.1.1 devices that would cause the Mobile Data Detective and CPU Usage Monitor presets to show that no applications are running.

What's new in Trepn Profiler 6.1?

  • New Battery Temperature data point

  • Added a shortcut to the Performance Graph preset, which displays the following on-screen overlays: CPU Load Normalized, GPU Load, and GPU frequency
  • The Performance Graph preset now supports devices with up to 10 cores
  • Acquire Wakelock while Profiling is now enabled by default
  • Added a setting to change temperature values between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
  • Fixed several issues that could result in app crashes
  • Added a Stop Profiling menu option to the Mobile Data Detective preset
  • Fixed a problem where the Stop Profiling button in the Notification Bar didn’t function properly on the Graph or Stats screens
  • Improved multi-column sorting on the Mobile Data Detective and the CPU Usage Monitor presets
  • Increased the width of the profile data lines on all graph presets so they stand out more
  • Moved the Percent Battery Remaining data point from Other Stats, to the Power Stats section of the data point list and renamed it Battery Remaining (%).
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when profiling was started via an intent when Trepn was closed, and the user brought Trepn to the foreground
  • Added Android version to the Device Info screen

  • Added full support for the Snapdragon 810 (8994) MDP/T (tablet) – including battery power and EPM per-rail power measurements*
    • Added several new power rails that are not present on Snapdragon 805 (8084) MDPs – including a Sensor power rail and USB power rail
    • In addition, Trepn reports power for cores 0-3 and cores 4-7
  • Added performance profiling and battery power support for the Snapdragon 810 (8994) MDP/S (smartphone)
  • Made a change that will allow more devices to report accurate battery power (e.g. HTC One M7)
