Hello all!

We wanted to reduce the cost of our CSR by not using the 32KHz crystal, but for some reason, it stopped working.

I would like to know:

1. what is it used for?

2. why can't the system function without it?

2. is there a way to get rid of it? we tried emulating itr by giving it an input of 32KHz from another source, but to no avail.

Thanks in advance!

You must use this crystal since it to use for sleep/ wake of the chip.

Hi Dr. Nissim,

I don't use sleep mode, my wake pin is disabled.

can the use of this crystal be disabled or otherwise avoided?

I do not know. CSR has to reply that.

Try to remove it from PCB PCB and see.

I presume CSR1010 will not work.

CSR \ Qualcomm personnel, I'd really like your input on this.

32KHz signal must be available for the CSR1010 device 100% of the time for various chip internal purposes. It will not work without it.
You CAN use external signal for the 32Khz clock. If planning on doing this, you should:
a. Make sure the signal fits to the specifications in chip's data sheet.
b. Connect the external 32KHz input frequency to XTAL_32KHZ_IN pin and let XTAL_32KHZ_OUT pin float.
