The following error message appears.
"GTK# 2.12.25 is required for snapdragon profier."
So I downloaded the GTK and intalled, but still can not install the profier.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems. If you are a PC user, you should confim you have Microsoft .NET 4.5.2 installed. Here is the download link for it:
Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

In addition please make sure that you install GTK# and not only GTK which can be found here:
http://download.xamarin.com/GTKforWindows/Windows/gtk-sharp-2.12.25.msi
I am getting the same error as the original poster. This is happening after installing the suggested update to GTK and .NET.
Hi,
When you try to install Snapdragon Profiler, are you installing with administrator privileges? Per our Quick Start Guide, this is required in order for the installer to work.
We are trying to narrow down the issues some developers are having with the installer, so any additional information you can provide would be beneficial.
Thanks,
Kevin
Hi David/Justin,
Can you please help me out with these questions? A couple may be duplicated from other posts, but I want to consolidate them into one post for you.
1) I assume you are using Windows PC, given your answers to previous questions. Is that correct?
2) Can you let me know your system architecture and version of your Windows OS?
3) If running on windows, can you let me know if you are running the installer with Admin privs?
4) Confirm that this is your error message:
"GTK# 2.12.25 is required for Snapdragon Profiler.
You can download and install manually from http://download.xamarin.com/GTKforWindows/Windows/gtk-sharp-2.12.25.msi"
5) If you are running on Windows, this particular error message happens when the installer cannot detect GTK# in the System Registry. So, if GTK# is installed correctly, my suspicion is that it's Registry entry may be in a different spot than the on the machines on which we tested.
The installer looks for SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Xamarin\GtkSharp\Version\. Can you please check (using regedit.exe) if there is an entry at that path, and whether it is 2.12.25?
Thanks,
Greg
Hi Greg,
Here are answers to your questions.
1) I am using Windows 7 Professional with Service Pack 1.
2) I am running the installer with Admin previledges. I right-click on the installer and choose "Run as administrator"
3) That is the exact message I am getting, and I did install GTK# manually using that installer. I also rebooted the computer before trying to install the Snapdragon Profiler again.
4) The GTK# entry is in a different location in the registry than what you list. On my computer it is under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Xamarin\GtkSharp\Version. Note that mine is _not_ under WOW6432Node.
Thanks
-David
David,
Thanks for the response. That registry value is the reason you are seeing the installation failures. I can modify the installer to check both locations, but in the meantime I'd also like to understand why the GTK installer is using that registry location to begin with. Depending on the reason, there may be more locations that I need to know about.
Are you running on a 32-bit Operating System?
Thanks,
Greg
Yes, I forgot to mention that. I am using the 32-bit variant.
Hi David,
Thanks for your information, it was very helpful.
I've changed the installer to check for the Registry Path you provided. Furthermore, in the case that the installer still cannot find GTK in the registry, it will now notify you via message box that it cannot find GTK in the Registry. The installation will continue as opposed to exiting altogether.
The fix will be included in our next release.
Thanks,
Greg
