Hi,
There are 2 GMSL camera ports on the RB5. Is it possible to mount an extension board on top of the RB5 in order to have 2 additional GMSL ports? Thanks a lot.
Best regards

Hi Sabyasachi,
Current Vision Mezzanine included with the RB5 development kit uses all the CSI lines on High Speed connectors 1/2/3 and routes them to various cam connectors on the development kit. The GMSL ports are routed from the MAX9296A to CSI 4/5 on HS3. So there are two ways you can add more GMSL ports to the platform:
OR
I hope this helps.

Hi Rajan,
Thanks for your response. Can you help us with the following:
1. Can you provide a list of GMSL supported cameras for the board?
2. Can we plug in another 4k camera to the Vision Mezzanine. So, the question is if the RB5 would be able to handle 2 4k camera streams? If so, do you have a link where we can order the same. I see 3 ports (CAM1, CAM2, CAM3). CAM1 and CAM2 are occupied by the 4k and the tracking camera. So the additional 4k camera can be plugged directly to the CAM3?
Thanks again. Looking forward to your reply.
Best regards
Sabyasachi
Hi Sabyasachi,
The list of cameras that are supported can be found here:
https://developer.qualcomm.com/qualcomm-robotics-rb5-kit/software-reference-manual/camera-and-video/camera-capture-and-encode
Like you mentioned, Cam 1 and 2 ports are connected to onboard cameras.
If you want to enable other CAM ports, you will need to make changes to device tree, and enable driver support if the camera you are using is not on the list above. 4k30 is ok on all 4 lane ports, 4K60 is currently enabled on one port of RB5 due to signal integrity issues at higher data rates. I believe the QRB5165 SOM can support multiple 4K60 cameras.
Hope this helps.
Rajan.
Hi Rajan
Thanks for your reply. Can you point us to a link where to buy an additional Main Camera (IMX577) along with the connector to the Mezannine board?
Also, can you send us a link to the GMSL enabled camera (ON SEMI AR0231) along with the GMSL connector cable to the Mezannine board?
We could not find links specific to the connectors. Thanks a lot!
Best regards

Hi Sabyasachi,
Please reach out to Thundercomm to get the main IMX camera with the flex cable. They should be able to help you with getting additional camera's, cables and connector specs.
For the GMSL camera, you can get part number LI-AR0231-GMSL2-CFM-176H-000 (no ISP) directly from Leopard Imaging.
Hope this helps,
Best Regards,
Rajan.
Hi Rajan,
Thank you. This is helpful. Yes the main camera (IMX577) has a different MIPI interface on the Leopard Imaging website. I will contact Thundercomm then.
Best regards

Hi,
Is there support planned for additional GMSL2 cameras with different sensors (e.g., AR0233AT)?
I was also wondering if support of the LI-AR0231-GMSL2-CFM-176H-000 (no ISP) is "complete" in the sense that HDR, LED flicker mitigation, etc. are supported?
We are trying to understand who one may look to for driver support for different cameras-- would Leopard be the driver provider?
Thanks!
