The Qualcomm Developer Network is going to fill Tuesday, June 26 – the day before Uplinq® begins – with as much hands-on training about mobile app programming as we can fit into four conference rooms. It’s our all-day Mobile CodeFest and Hackathon, open to the first 300 developers who sign up.
If and only if you write code, you’re the person we’re looking to join us.The entire day costs nothing beyond your regular Uplinq registration and will be your only opportunity at Uplinq for this kind of heads-down, wired-in, training.
Are you in?Will code for thrills.
The Hackathon room is open from 9:00am until 8:00pm. You’ll find tables, chairs, Wi-Fi, power strips, development platforms/devices, tools, and sample code– everything you need to build apps that your users can’t put down. You’ll be in one of two groups: developers looking to build a team of up to four members, and developers looking for a team to join.
Or maybe you’d like some deep-dive training? We’ve scheduled sessions from 10:00am until 4:00pm, led by engineers and product managers from Qualcomm and Microsoft. They’ll cover material and answer your questions on topics, including:
- Qualcomm’s Vuforia™ SDK for building augmented reality apps
- Creating proximity-based experiences with the AllJoyn™ peer-to-peer framework
- Developing cutting-edge 3D graphics and gaming applications that make the most of Snapdragon’s Adreno™ GPU with the Adreno SDK and Profiler
- Writing web apps with Qualcomm's HTML5 mobile device API extensions
- Developing apps for Windows® Phone
You’ll see on the big screen how these work, you’ll ask a few questions, you’ll get answers, and then you’ll update the code right on your laptop. We think this is the best way for you to build the apps (and relationships) that will give your users the next thrill. Will code for devices and cash.
And the best part is that you can get something out of this. Up to $30,000.
After a working dinner, we’ll have a lightning round of developers and teams presenting their apps based on one or more technologies from Qualcomm or Microsoft. Judges will vote on six categories and present awards ($5,000 first prize, mobile device second prize) for:
- Best multi-screen experience using AllJoyn
- Best prototype app using facial processing
- Best web app using HTML5
- Best Windows Phone app
- Best context awareness app
The winner of each category will then be entered into the grand prize of $25,000. And it’s not just the money; we’ll have press covering this event so you’ll likely get some publicity out of it too. Not bad for a day’s work.
And, there are even more perks – you’ll receive a CodeFest survival pack just for attending and a free development device.
Get cracking! If you’re in the San Diego area, we’ll be hosting a Countdown to CodeFest Meetup this Wednesday, June 13 from 7-9pm at Digitaria, high above Petco Park (350 10th Avenue, #1200, San Diego, CA). Technology experts will be there to share their insights and what to expect at the Uplinq CodeFest & Hackathon. We’ll be giving away five passes to Uplinq 2012 and the drinks and appetizers are on us!
Visit the QDevNet Mobile CodeFest and Hackathon page for more details, and then confirm your participation when you register for Uplinq. If you’re already registered for Uplinq, you can sign up for the Mobile CodeFest and Hackathon by logging in to the Uplinq website and updating your registration.
But hurry! We’re limiting participation to 300 developers.
