Developer of the Month: Fancy3D Makes Mobile Game Development Easier in China

This month, we’ve selected Fancy3D from Beijing, China, as the Qualcomm Developer of the Month. Liu Rui, Founder, Liu Xia, CEO, Hu Junyu, CPO, Liu Lijie, Technical Manager and others at Fancy3D have created a development engine that provides rich APIs to create games and other 3D apps. It can be used to assemble various scenes, animations, and physical movements for Windows, iOS, Android, Mac, Linux and other platforms.

The Fancy3D team answered some questions for us, so you can learn more about the work they do.

How was your company started?
After working in game development for years, we encountered a variety of problems while using different engines. We found that there wasn’t an engine that was easy to learn how to use and could also efficiently be used to develop high performance games. We decided to develop a 3D game engine that was easy to learn how to use, could improve the performance of web games, reduce development costs and improve development efficiency.

What’s your vision for the Fancy3D Engine?
We hope Fancy3D Engine can be used not only for game development, but also in other industries. Nowadays, many industries need 3D engines for virtual reality, such as 3D education, 3D display of goods and 3D virtual city exhibitions.

What’s a fun fact about Fancy3D that you’d like to share?
The inspiration of Fancy3D logo came from the Rubik’s Cube. Everybody can easily play with it and it can be rotated in any direction. We want the Fancy3D Engine to be just like the Rubik’s cube: easy to use and low cost. If you look carefully, you will find that the Fancy3D logo is similar to the Rubik’s Cube skeleton.

Where does your team get inspiration for your work?
Our inspiration comes from working in game development for several years and the many problems we encountered while using a variety of engines. Every problem we encountered turned into inspiration for our engine.

Adreno™ Profiler, Adreno SDK, Xcode and Android NDK.

Where do you see the mobile industry in 10 years?
In the next 10 years, the mobile industry will infiltrate every industry. People in all different industries will inevitably be involved and the mobile Internet will continue to bring more convenience.
