SVG…It’s easy!

0 0

At Uplinq 2010 one of my colleagues, Brent Sammons, gave a session on Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) along with Andrew Sledd from IKIVO. Below is a post on SVG from Brent.

SVG has come a long way! If you don’t know what SVG is, check out the SVG tutorials on planetSVG.

At the Uplinq session on SVG, called “Creating SVG Content for Adreno-powered Devices”, IKIVO (a supplier of rich media application-enabling solutions based on open standards) and Qualcomm shared information on the new SVG solution for devices powered by Qualcomm’s Adreno GPU. It includes SVG accelerated by OpenVG on dedicated 2D hardware on Qualcomm’s Adreno 205 and later GPUs.

The dedicated 2D hardware in Adreno 205 ensures faster SVG rendering at lower power levels. It also creates the ability to use SVG concurrently with 3D graphics. And this means even more developer opportunity to create unique, well-performing, money-making mobile applications.

The combined strengths of IKIVO and Qualcomm also include easy-to-use SVG authoring tools. These SVG tools significantly reduce development time and decrease development costs. These tools address much of what a developer needs to create many types of compelling SVG mobile content, from various games and apps to UIs and Mobile TV delivery applications.

Check out some of the SVG content possible with IKIVO tools.
